With a fast-growing reputation as one of London’s best young producers, Joe Hertz is back with his latest sunshine-tinged single, “MØØn”, featuring Nonô. The song is an excellent example of Hertz’s precocious penchant for intricate productions, matched with universally recognisable songwriting that is both innovative and familiar. All of this, with Nonô honey-toned vocal layered over synths reminiscent of West Coast funk, and real horns to boot, make something very listenable, and an instant add to your spring playlist.

Speaking on the track, Joe states: “This song came from my first session with Nonô – we quickly found we shared a lot of the same cultural influences and both had this passion for looking at where we are all going, as society, and as artists. We liked the idea of a message of female empowerment through a visual story for this one: ‘I’m flying to the moon’ – anything is possible and this felt in line with Nonô’s own story pursuing her music and life in London from Brazil.”

He continues, “On the production I wanted the sounds to reflect that intergalactic/uplifting vibe and for the song, Nonô wanted to try something I hadn’t really done before. We used tarot cards to find the starting point for exploring this idea of empowerment. The positive messages that came through that process were exactly what we were looking for.”
