Having just bought a palazzo (an Italian stately home) for GCDS’s new HQ, it seems only right that the brand’s founder and creative director Giuliano Calza would create an elaborate makeshift one to serve as a backdrop for his AW19 collection.
The collection itself was equally as decadent. Half the looks were was characteristic of the GCDS aesthetic – featuring hot pink hair and silk pyjamas, asymmetric bodysuits, high-shine puffer jackets and extravagant pastel boots, made in collaboration with Polly Pocket. The other side of AW19 explored darker looks and ideas, evoked through blood stains and vinyl textures.
Of course, both were tied together by GCDS’s commitment to innovative streetwear silhouettes, which made an interesting contrast against the traditional palazzo backdrop. Check out all our backstage photos below…
