Fresh off the back of their impressive second EP, “Champagne Eyes“, we caught up with Aluna Francis, one half of AlunaGeorge, in Balham’s Aquatic Design Centre. Having previously been signed to Island/Interscope Records, the project was the duo’s first independently released EP, and the shackles are clearly off, with a sound that raw, eclectic, and decidedly authentic. As Francis explains, ” I still don’t really relate to being pigeonholed in the EDM world”, and the empowered sensuality and sexuality with which the EP is imbued is evidence of a departure from restrictive genre criteria and a foray into the unknown. As Francis says, “my intention for 2019 is to let others hear the vast variety of music that I know that Alunageorge has done, but hasn’t come out”.

Watch the video below to hear more about AlunaGeorge’s new project, as well as Francis’s thoughts on the MeToo movement, race and isolation, and what she hopes 2019 will bring.
