In the beginning there was red. Okay, not exactly how the saying goes. But for Dior, they’ve gone straight back to makeup’s classic roots with the launch of their lush new lipstick collection: Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge.

It’s all about an innovative riff on your go-to red. And no stress, comfort doesn’t get sacrificed for durability. Think highly-pigmented colour in a weightless, semi-matte finish, which goes on for 12 hours, but all minus any sort of drying sensation. And take your pick of 26 new colours: from a rich wine burgundy, classic poppy red, to even a bold jet-black. Yep, you heard right. Oh, and did we mention – Natalie Portman is the face of the new line. Dreamy stuff.

And if we weren’t already on new makeup release high, the luxury brand has also announced the launch of, drumroll please… a liquid lip liner, with Dior Rouge Ink Lip Liner. Inky, super-intense colour that goes on with a precise felt-tip, it’s “the first liquid lipstick in a couture pen.”

“Ultra Rouge adds new magic both to the experience of lipstick and the expression of red,” explains Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Beauty. “Because the formula acts as an overprint, like an ink tattooing the lips and like an extremely weightless coloured film, it enabled me to develop new, highly saturated and luminous shades. Like a painter with a new colour palette.”
