PREMIERE: LYLA FOY – “TRY MY HEART”

The alt-pop siren on her latest dreamy single.

Some songs are made for movement. Music to leave work to, for walking to meet a first date, dreaming out of train windows, or dancing in our bedrooms just because. Music for going and becoming. “Try My Heart” is one of those songs.

Its video, crafted by animator and motion graphics artist Gina Tratt, brings these everyday scenes to life in a pulsing psychedelic world: its illustrated character walks briskly amongst falling diamonds, rollerblades through lightning and cycles through a field of stars and poppies.

“With this song, I’m trying to be frank about cyclical swings in temperament. I wanted to set all that talk about feelings to a driving, Krautrock-esque beat” explains Lyla, “it’s made all the more bizarre with Gina Tratt’s animated video which makes me question my sanity.”

The London-based singer-songwriter has been teasing singles from her second album “Bigger Brighter” for a couple of months now, and we’re already fully captivated by her ethereal sound. “Try My Heart” layers soft synths and delicate electronic beats, creating a warm, nostalgic vibe perfect for the last days of summer.

“Bigger Brighter”, made in collaboration with songwriter and producer Oli Deakin (aka Lowpines), will be available from 14th September. Until then, check out “Try My Heart” below.
