Kara Marni

The South London singer drops her debut EP.

With a voice reminiscent of Minnie Ripperton and Roberta Flack, 19-year-old rising star Kara Marni should be firmly on your radar. After releasing her two latest singles, “Golden” and “Curve” to critical acclaim, she’s finally dropped her debut EP “Love Just Ain’t Enough”, a dreamy and captivating 7-track EP that is a pitch-perfect summer soundtrack. We’re already obsessed!

Touching on topics of love, gullibility and selfishness, the adult lyricism matched with the powerful production ensures that this release is a strong debut from a fierce young talent. Drawing influence from icons including Amy Winehouse, Diana Ross and Minnie Ripperton, Marni’s vocal is just as powerful and daring as her talented musical predecessors and an indication at what’s to come from London’s most promising rising star.

Describing her sound to Wonderland as “soul with a sprinkling of pop”, the EP is Marni’s very own brainchild, with lyrics that call upon her own personal life and experiences. “I’ve actually written on all the songs which I’m really happy about,” she told Wonderland when we spoke to her for our Autumn 2017 issue. “I think it means so much to be because it’s the only outlet where I can really be myself.”
