20-year-old Catalan vocalist, Bad Gyal is making her claim as a leading club provocateur. Mixing influences from dancehall and reggaeton, the Barcelona-based artist first started making waves on the scene in 2016, when she dropped a cover of Rihanna’s “Work” and shot to viral fame.
Releasing her follow-up mixtape, “Slow Wine” later that year and a handful of fire-emoji-worthy bangers in 2017, now she’s getting ready to release a new body of work (dropping next week). Giving us a first glimpse of said new material, latest track “Blink” is an instant dancefloor-filling anthem and a clear look at how Bad Gyal – real name Alba Farelo – has grown as an artist.
With the second mixtape set to drop on the 23rd, and having already confirmed her spot at this year’s Sonar Reykjavik fest, (which takes place 16-17 March), this year we’re certain to see Bad Gyal become a worldwide phenomenon. And to get to know her a little better before all that, we got the explosive artist to put together a playlist of all the tracks she was listening to whilst recording the new record in Jamaica. Check it out now…
