PREMIERE: CULTS – “RIGHT WORDS NATURAL STATE”

A psychedelic day out with the NYC duo.

PSA: If you have myrmecophobia, it’s time to turn away now…

Releasing two videos today – you’re spoiling us, guys – New York indie pop darlings Cults are helping us shake off the January blues by taking us on a psychedelic journey. Soundtracked by the glistening synth-soaked “Right Words” and “Natural State”, which come from the duo’s third album Offering, the vid follows frontwoman Madeline Follin through various trippy landscapes.

“We shot ‘Right Words’ in a few hours around Griffith Park.” Director Elliott Sellers says of the video. “Madeline was in LA for a wedding and we discussed getting weird with an acid-dipped strawberry picnic idea and some classic cut-up/collage techniques. ‘Natural State’ was basically the come down of all the psychedelic 2D animation, existing in the real world.”

Tune in below and, in the band’s own words, “Long live ‘Flat-Madeline.'”

Cults play The Deaf Institute in Manchester on the 24th, and The Garage in London on the 25th of this month.
