Never before have we found ourselves so vested in making up excuses to go get an eye test, but with the launch of new Shoreditch spot KITE, we’ve frankly been thinking of little else lately. That, and the fact long term laptop use has genuinely started causing issues….
“The eye industry is stuck in a time warp,” says Adarsh Radia, co-founder of KITE alongside his brother Amar (the pair made their name with the introduction of the Dishoom Bombay Cafè chain in 2007) and long term friend and partner Asad Hamir. “It’s time to change that.”
About as revolutionary as eyebar’s come, with KITE they’re certainly on their way to shaking up how we buy glasses. “We believe that by fusing the best in design, engineering and optics with a truly inspiring approach to retail, we can make a hugely positive impact,” continues Amar.
Bringing on British architect Asif Khan MBE, the bar’s space alone enough to honour a pat on the back; a paradigm shift from the usually quite stale (believe us, we’ve been, tried and tested), variation the British high street otherwise serves up for opticians. Plus they’ve tapped unique food duo Bompas & Parr for a bespoke collab.. Catch you down Redchurch Street?
