If you’re not already acquainted with ISLAND, it’s time to dive in. The Oxford-formed, London-based four piece have been making waves – the water descriptions will become obvious later, dw – since they first came on to the scene in 2015 with their debut EP, “Girl”.
Praised for their melodic indie-pop stylings, the boys are now back with their stunning latest offering “Try”. As frontman Rollo Doherty says “’Try’ is a reminder of the fragility of love, and the effort it takes to hold together something that was once easy.” A scintillating cinematic song, the band mix atmospheric guitar sounds with hypnotic lyrics to form a beautiful track that will sweep you away into a celestial world.
Accompanying the new single is a video inspired by the short film “Ten Meter Board” directed by Axel Danielson and Maximilien Van Aertryck. Featuring a line-up of different people diving off a diving board – you get the water references now, right? – it’s visually captivating and perfectly matches the cinematic soundtrack.
An exciting glimpse into one of the most exciting bands at the moment, prepare to fall slightly in love with all of them after hearing this.
