LFW: RYAN LO SS18

Here comes the bride.

Take Me To Church

Taking place at the beautiful St. Sepulchre Without Newgate Church near St. Pauls in London, Ryan Lo‘s show was the invite we’ve all been waiting for. As guests took their respective seats around the stunning building, the wedding celebrations kicked off: inspiration came via various famous nuptials, while Lo’s line-up is certain to rise to the top of every future bride’s dress list. We already have our eyes on a few. Just sayin’.

My Fair Lady

Drawing influences from some of the fairest women around, Lo stated how he wanted this line-up to show the Ryan Lo girl “being a LADY for a change, trading in the cute for the timeless” and this was totally accomplished. With nods towards royalty offering the perfect look, the collection saw glimpses of Princess Mako of Akishino and Princess Diana’s iconic looks. Simultaneously a celebration for Lo gaining British citizenship, further nods honoured the Queen and her predecessors from the Victorian age. Royally brilliant, if you will.

Monochrome Masterpiece

Rejecting his usual pink/red affair – a move away from the bright colours he was privy to growing up in Hong Kong – Lo decided to focus on black and white for SS18. Proving that sometimes less is more, the toned down palette was accentuated with pearls and glitter, making them pop perfectly. In short, we want one of Lo’s little black dresses. And one of the white dresses. And pretty much everything else.
