PREMIERE: BLACK LIPS – “CRYSTAL NIGHT”

The band take us on a night out dancing.

Ahead of their headline set on the Festival Republic stage at Reading & Leeds this weekend, rock legends Black Lips are dropping the visuals to “Crystal Night”. A fave from their eighth studio album Satan’s graffiti or God’s art?, the track is a dazzling display of the band’s expertly crafted subversive sound. As frontman Cole Alexander explains, “The song ‘Crystal Night’ was written as a fictional account of the forbidden love of a Gentile and a Jew during Nazi Germany. This song was our attempt at saying love will always trump hate.”

The video itself shows a night out going slowly wrong. As the band perform, we see a couple enjoying the dance, before their attempts at spicing up the night lead to their ultimate demise. A captivating video, it perfectly embodies the gripping feeling of the album.

Set to head out on a huge European tour later this year, the video is yet more proof that Black Lips continue to be one of the most exciting bands around. Check it out below…
