PREMIERE: KING GARBAGE – “FORBIDDEN LOVERS”

A day out with the duo.

With their personal manifesto being to “smile in the face of looming obstacles”, it’s no surprise that Zach Cooper and Vic DiMotsis would drop a video that would instantly make you smile. Taken from their debut album Make It Sweat, which will be released next month, “Forbidden Lovers” is a lo-fi ode to a friend who stays home playing records instead of going out. Blending hip hop and soul elements, the track features chilled funk-filled rhythms and delicate harmonies to create an effortlessly cool sound with a refreshing twist on funk and soul traditions.

The accompanying video for the track highlights the pair’s twelve years of friendship as they spend a sunny day as many of us would – pissing about with a mate. Featuring some impressive air guitar moves (and one of the only Iron Man t-shirts I’ve seen that doesn’t look shit), the video perfectly embodies the vibe of the sun-soaked carefree track.

With their album due for release on 22nd September, “Forbidden Lovers” is the perfect introduction to the duo’s infectiously endearing music. Check it out below…
