Playlist: SIBA

The Danish producer on his fave songs.

It’s time to start paying attention when you hear the name SIBA.

The Danish producer – who has yet to reveal his real name – is gaining universal praise for the creativity and uniqueness surrounding his quirky style of pop. Moving to London last year after signing a publishing deal, he’s racking up an impressive CV after working with the likes of Raye, Bonzai and Zara Larsson. His biggest fan comes in the form of Wonderland fave Charlie XCX. The first singer that SIBA produced, the pair spent time collaborating at London’s Abbey Road Studios, following which Charlie described how she was “blown away” by SIBA.

Wanting to find out what inspires the producing powerhouse, SIBA talked us through his top three techno, indie and pop songs…

Shed – “Fünf”

This is an all time favourite of mine. It’s just hard as fuck. When I need to explain what type of techno I like, I show this tune.

Blawan – “Getting Me Down”

I don’t really go out much, and I don’t DJ, but if I was out or I was DJing, this is what I would play. It just makes me want to dance and it’s hard and melodic at the same time and I love that..

Gesloten Cirkel – “Twisted Balloon”

I found this tune listening through a mix by a very talented danish DJ called “Courtesy”. I’ve seen her play a few times and she always plays this kinda stuff, which is exactly the kinda stuff I’m into.

Superorganism – “It’s All Good”

These guys are so incredible. I worked with them recently, and we wrote a song about riding horses, in a Ginuwine type of way. They are very talented people and also incredibly sweet. Everyone should know about them. Listening to their stuff makes me so happy.

Superorganism – “Something For Your Mind”

I put these guys in again because I can, and everyone should hear both the songs they have out.. They will also make you happy.

Paul McCartney – “Ever Present Past”

Not really indie.. but i just feel like this song was very overlooked. And I’m having a Beatles/separated Beatles phase at the moment. So I’m enjoying this a lot.

Julia Michaels – “Uh Huh”

I love Julia Michaels. Like everyone else. And I know she could literally fart in a mic at the moment and people would adore it.. But I loved issues, and I love this “Uh Huh” song too. It’s unpolished like the latter was, and it just takes pop in a different direction, which I love.

Selena Gomez – “Bad Liar”

I love this so much. It’s so refreshing to hear this from Selena. It’s another Julia Michaels song, and to me it doesn’t matter that it’s not killing the charts, I feel it’s refreshing and it’s pushing the pop boundaries. Also in general I just love very minimal productions.

Miley Cyrus – “Malibu”

Yeah. So I know most of you have obviously heard this one. But I like that it it’s different and it feels refreshing. It feels a tiny bit too “post crazy Miley” in a planned out kinda way, but the song makes me happy..
