Surprise Release: "Inspired" – Miley Cyrus

The singer just dropped a new charity single.

Fresh from her performance at the One Love Manchester benefit concert last week, Miley Cyrus has raised a charitable hand for the second time in a month with the surprise release of new track “Inspired”. The single, a stripped-down take on the traditional country ballad, has been released in honour of LGBT Pride Month and is, as the singer comments, a “desperate cry for more love in this world”.

Cyrus will be donating her share of the proceeds to the Happy Hippie Foundation, the charity she founded in 2014 that tackles prejudice surrounding homelessness, the LGBTQ community, and the women’s rights movement. The new single, announced earlier today via Instagram, features an image of the singer shot by Liam Hemsworth (Cyrus’ fiancé) in a suitably vibrant rainbow jumper; well, it would be rude not to right?

The release of “Inspired” and her work behind the Happy Hippie Foundation adds Cyrus to a growing list of celebrities using their platform to take on social injustice, a strand of activism that is becoming increasingly crucial.

“Inspired” is out now and you can find it on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and Amazon Music. Did we mention that the proceeds go to charity?
