PRADA ETIQUETTE

Miuccia introduces a new bag series turning things inside out.

Think iconic Prada in a handbag situation and 90s black nylon and early 00s bowling styles pretty much always come out somewhere up top, the former embodying one of Miuccia’s first cult highlights, the latter a signifier for a key trend of the era: this week sees the introduction of another destined no doubt for a high reaching title, as the house welcomes the Prada Etiquette to the fold.

The new addition – which drops tomorrow – boasts a unique first for Mrs Prada, placing the blue label traditionally found inside pieces on the exterior, a bold (and aesthetically very pleasing) representation of the “symbiotic relationship between Prada products and the Prada brand identity” we’re told; it also explores the interchangeability between a logo and what it represents.

Mirroring the French for label (etiquette), the new bag series questions the role of the logo in contemporary fashion as well as its merits as a status signifier; and does a fine job as a piece of arm candy too.

Produced in glace calf leather and boasting a strong selection of colours – from pink and white to metallic blues and greens – the collection is comprised of several sizes, namely petite silhouettes with studded flap tops and bigger, open styles similarly adorned with studs, plus a selection of cleaner styles sans studs.
