ORIGINAL PENGUIN SS17

The brand takes us on an Urban Safari.

In a new collab with menswear label Original Penguin, creative director Nas Abraham leads us through a concrete jungle featuring a Brutalist designed high rise landscape. Here the concrete structures of Trelick Tower – a quintessential part of the London skyline – are contrasted with lush plants for a contemporary interpretation of tropical vibes; the city becomes a fractured futurist maze built around the models, recreating the way one feels trying to make their way out of a sprawling tower block…

While the shoot boasts serious summer appeal despite no hint of sunshine – thanks to Abraham’s clever collage technique – the collection itself features UK rapper Mikill Pane dressing for the weather we’re praying for (!) in bright printed shorts and shirt. Delivering soulful hip hop in the day job, Pane is a perfect ambassador for this sartorial urban jungle, which mixes khaki tones with bright florals and animal print co-ordinates. In summary, Original Penguin’s new apparel will make you feel like it’s summer even when the sun isn’t shining. Which is pretty great, right? Get it here.
