Premiere: Leyendekker – "Thankless"

Prog-pop for the ages.

The unholy communion of four individuals from South East London led to the creation of Leyendekker: a frantically energetic, multifaceted prog/art-pop project, equal parts Foals and Holy Fuck.

The level of musicianship that permeates their latest record “Thankless” is striking. It is a song filled with hunger and relentless ambition and inspired, in the words of lead singer Calum Duncan, by “the cost, both financial and otherwise, of living in a city like London and the realisation that a vast majority of people have no choice but to abandon their ambitions and passions in order to survive”.

Leyendekker’s awareness of the trials and tribulations of artistry in the city ensures their latest offering is a mature, intelligent and satisfyingly complex affair drawing on their prog roots whilst shape shifting into something wholly original. We look forward to more.

Leyendekker play The Old Blue Last on Friday. Event info here.
