The new kings of collab, from the brothers Gvasalia very public dream teaming with stylist Lotta Volkova to their partnership heavy SS17 line-up (more than ten brands attributed to the collection), Vetements is a label for whom integration is simply de rigueur. And hence Demna Gvasalia’s team is the latest tapped to give Dr. Martens a remodel.

A subtle makeover employing Vetements’ unique approach to subverting classics, here the iconic 1490 ten-eye boot is reworked, produced in a worn-in leather, sans laces and with a zip fastening; decoration takes the form of the words ‘BORDER LINE’, printed on the back of each boot, a nod to the label’s marriage of high-brow and street fashion.

Perhaps one of the most relevant collaborations for each party, the special edition release – out now – pays fitting tribute to each of the pair’s respective relationships with notions of subculture, from Vetements contemporary associations to DM’s punk hey day.
