Echoing the charm and hooks that got people screaming “LONDON” at the top of their lungs when Jamie T’s “Shiela” first burst onto the scene, Dominic Harrison, aka Yungblud, is about to get us all riled up again. His debut track “King Charles” is infectiously in-your-face, and as Yungblud spits his lyrics with fierce delivery and determination, it’s clear his blend of alternative rock and witty songwriting has been crafted by years of listening to the greats.
Focussed on the struggle of not being taken seriously, Yungblud tells us, “At the minute I feel like young people are not being listened to, so music is how I can express my opinions and create change. If we fight, we win.” With his intelligent lyrics mixed with boyish charm that makes our knees weak, as Yungblud yells “What do we do man? / What do we do?” you just know that that will be the “LONDON”-esque line people will gleefully scream out at his shows for years to come.
Currently gearing up for festival season and with new music promised for this year, start expecting big things from this Northern newcomer. We’re certain we’ve not seen the last of him…
