PITTI UOMO TAPS J.W. ANDERSON

The label will make its Italian debut on 14th June.

“I’m honoured to have been asked to show at Pitti Uomo,” Jonathan Anderson said in a statement, following the announcement that his eponymous J.W. Anderson label will be making its Italian debut as a special guest at June’s event. “Florence’s aesthetic is beautiful, which will lend itself to be the perfect backdrop for the collection.”

Following the likes of Gosha Rubchinskiy and Raf Simons – both whom made stints at the tradeshow in 2016 – Anderson’s name is the first to be released for the special event line-up for the 92nd Pitti Immagine Uomo. Taking place between the 13th-16th June, those attending Pitti will be privy to the first IRL scenes of Anderson’s SS18 menswear collection.

“Above all,” adds, Pitti Immagine’s Director of Communications and Events, Lapo Cianchi, “we are drawn to the creativity and eclecticism (Anderson) expresses in his collections that are further enhanced by high-quality manufacturing and – in menswear – by undisputable sartorial skill. The way he interprets elements from the contemporary art scene and from the youth culture, alternating emotional impact and transgression that are projected towards anticipating the future leaving little room for nostalgia, is very interesting.”
