PFW: Kenzo AW17

KENZO make survival wear chic in their Arctic inspired AW17 collection.

Arctic Adventure

Carol Lim and Humberto Leon found inspiration for their AW17 collection after discovering the subculture of Arctic surfers. This led them to design a wardrobe that combines wild protection with an urban sensibility, as an homage to the badass men and women who experience an environment so raw that it would make Bear Grylls shudder.

Fluorescent Adolescent

The collection focusses on bright, eye-catching colours, becoming almost a wearable Aurora Borealis. There were geo-tiger patterns, florals, checks, knits, ski-gear, leather. You name it. They had it. Highlighting the sub-zero cool factor, orange shearlings were draped under parkas and x-ray layered dresses showed how survival gear can still be stunning.

Backstage Pass

The show took place backstage in order to create dialogue with Ideas For Us, an organisation created to solve environmental problems on campuses and in communities around the world. The set also allowed a financial contribution to be made to the cause. In addition to this, for their AW17 Collection, KENZO have partnered with Earth Guardians to further promote their message, that we must act together to create global environmental solutions.
