MFW: MSGM SS17

Bright neons and spectacular prints were at the core of MSGM’s lady-like and ultra-modern SS17 collection.

Caught In A Net

For SS17, MSGM made fishing nets and scuba-sportswear glamorous. By placing gaping fishnet dresses (in both cobalt and blood red) over white and blue floral midi dresses, MSGM created the perfect balance of romantic and ultra-modern, with a beach sports feel that made us desperate to be beside the sea. Crunchy nylon drawstring tops also made an appearance, as well as intricate double-facing and crochet, which alongside the tech scuba sandals (complete with retro air sole) and the oversized neon barrel bags, created romantic, sporty looks that make us wish it was summer already.

The Colour Wheel

MSGM tasted the rainbow for SS17. Pairing some of the brightest neon tones with classic monochrome (for when you’re not feeling up to bright blue cycling shorts and electric yellow detailing on ruffles), MSGM spanned the spectrum, with a vast array of tones venturing from aqua to neon orange and subtle lemon and lime. For those that aren’t partial to neon, baby yellow made an appearance in flowing trousers, while a muted turquoise played peek-a-boo through the silver layers of a pleated midi skirt. Whatever colour takes your fancy for spring, MSGM’s spun the colour wheel and made sure you’re covered.

Prints Please

MSGM’s new prints aren’t for the faint hearted. Mixing stripes, traditional golfing argyle and florals of all sizes, MSGM went all in. The prints that stole the show were the fruity, floral and aquarelle prints, that contrasted with layers of ruffles and the bold stripes that criss-crossed through skirts in brilliant blues and a yellow, black and white assortment. The show began and ended with two delicately modern yet classic MSGM outfits: the opening look matched detailed orange florals with a pure white ruffle extravaganza, while the closing look reversed the colour palette, with a mismatched neon yellow and white print spanning across a twisted and layered black dress, complete with cycling shorts and a black fishnet top tucked underneath. MSGM have got us covered.
