Part of the Cubitt House group of restaurants, hotels and public houses, Pimlico’s The Orange is a perfectly packaged set of four rooms. A slice of relaxation space in the city, you’ll feel as if you’re a million miles away in softly toned suites of cream and muted pastel paintwork and exposed brickwork. All king-sized (a must when you’re living the London life, believe us) and en-suites, this gem is hidden away above the pub right on Pimlico Road.
Open and breezy with homely decor, you’ll slide in comfortably straightaway at the door and find the heart of the pub, the ground floor bar, where you can enjoy as many cocktails as you can manage (ours is a minty mango signature Cubitt Mojito) and a wine list that will take you just as long to read let alone decide, including oh-too-tempting red wine “from the vaults”.
After a good night’s sleep, enjoy your breakfast after perusing the menu, and take your pick from super juices, breakfast cocktails and eggs six different ways. For dinner, step upstairs to the first floor dining room, overlooking Orange Square, to taste the seasonal European menu. Also in Orange Square and in keeping with the home-away-from-home vibe, every Saturday a Farmer’s Market sets up shop, making Pimlico feel like a charming country village rather than the middle of the capital.
That same cosy feeling runs right through the pub and hotel – just make sure you don’t get so comfortable you never want to leave. But if you’re as enraptured as us, be sure to visit Cubitt’s other locations across the city: The Grazing Goat, The Alfred Tennyson and The Thomas Cubitt.
