7 Wonders: Bestival

Party hard at September’s funnest festival: the awe-inspiring Bestival.

Bestival is one of those marvellous events where you feel like you’ve been flung into a fantasy world as soon as you walk through the gates. Expect the weirdest and most wonderful things from Bestival 2016; the festival is always amazing, but this year they’ve gone above and beyond to make sure you have the time of your life. Organised by DJ and co-founder Rob Da Bank and his Creative Director Josie Da Bank, Bestival is the party to end all parties.

There’s the most amazing line-up this year (more on that in our First Wonder), and the venues have been built with a magic touch that have turned Robin Hill into a eccentric parallel world. As one of summer’s last hurrah’s, get yourself down to the party on the Isle Of Wight on 8-11 September 2016 for four whole days of the bizarre and beautiful. It’s going to be a wild one.

We’ve joined forces with Bestival to give you the chance to win a couple of super-sought-after VIP tickets. With your Very Important Person status, you get access to the brand new VIP garden complete with fast track entry (no queues!), the best main stage views, a cocktail bar stocked with every drink your heart could desire, high-standard seating and exceptional toilet facilities. Just retweet to be in with a chance of getting VIP access to September’s hottest party.

The Line Up

A major part of Bestival’s unrivalled appeal is their line-up. Every year, Bestival score some of the world’s best acts to perform on the main stage and around the Robin Hill site; this year, they’ve treated us to a real party. Get yourself down to see the likes of Major Lazer, Wiz Khalifa, Sean Paul, The Cure, Diplo, Fatboy Slim, Bastille, Years and Years and Skepta, just to name a few. Even The Chuckle Brothers will be there. This is one line-up not to be missed.

The Main Stage

At the centre of the Stardust Field stands the Main Stage, an outlandish but wonderful site to behold. Designed by Creative Director Josie da Bank and sprinkled with that marvellous Bestival magic, this is where the action happens. Get yourself down there for the party; there’s nothing quite like that special feeling of being surrounded by thousands of fun-loving party people, marvelling at the jaw-dropping lighting and the magical firework finale to end all firework displays on the Sunday night. This is where the biggest acts will be headlining – make sure you don’t miss one second of the extravaganza that will unfold.

The Love-Bot

Aside from the amazing music line up, Bestival always puts on stellar art installations and interactive experiences. For 2016, they’ve created The Love-Bot to spread peace, love and good vibes around the Robin Hill site. At 8m tall and weighing 4 tonnes, the cyber-softy, who will be hanging out on Grassy Hill, needs your love for his energy. Go and pay him a visit, as the bionic love machine uses sensory-detectors to feel affection and converts your happiness into a display that spreads love and joy to everyone. Feel the love.

The World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle

We’re not joking. Just for you, Bestival have brought in a record-breakingly-sized bouncy castle to fulfil all of your childlike needs. Measuring 23.8m long, 20.7m wide and 12.8m high, this bouncy castle is so big it’s taller than the Great Wall of China and about three times the size of the Berlin Wall. We’d say keep an eye out for it, but seeing as it’s about the size of an actual castle, you won’t miss it. Head over to the fun and games area and don’t miss out on seeing this record-breaking fun house and the party that’ll be happening there.

The Ambient Forest

If you weren’t aware you were at Bestival you might mistake The Ambient Forest for a mythical, magical land from a film. Among the other-worldly trees lies The Amphitheatre, a secret world of amusements and curious fun and games. The wildest entertainment takes place during the day, whilst at night the forest is transformed into an area for gig and dance theatre, sketch comedy and a glitter-strewn arcade where the Sink The Pink team will be waiting for you. Anything and everything goes in The Ambient Forest.

The Bollywood Tent

Since Bestival’s inception, The Bollywood Tent has been a permanent fixture on the site. The brainchild of Josie da Bank and her best friend Natasha Hill, The Bollywood Tent is a gloriously colourful and wild hand-stitched tent serving the best cocktails on the Isle Of Wight and provides a DJ line-up that will pack out the tent, with audiences spilling into the surrounding area; everyone wants to be a part of this party. You will be welcomed through the massive Temple entrance and into the plush Indian day beds, to bask in the sun next to the parasols and marvel at the colourful whirlwind of fun that The Bollywood Tent always brings.

The DJs

Bestival is renowned for it’s DJ line-up, and this year is no exception. In fact, it’s bigger and better than ever! Featuring both the well-established of the dance world and some fresh faces ready to make their mark, Bestival’s got house and dance music’s best and brightest on the schedule. From Carl Cox’s House Classics and Grammy Award-Winning producer Tourist (who made his debut at Bestival in 2014 when he only had a couple of EPs under his belt) to Eats Everything, Goldierocks, Honey Soundsystem, Moxie and Skream, the party never stops.

Retweet to be in with a chance of winning VIP tickets to Bestival 2016.
