Playlist: Frances' Travelling Tunes

Frances is a girl in high demand. She shares her favourite songs for on the road with us amidst a summer of performing across the globe.

Cherubic-faced, flame-haired Frances is back with her new single, “Say It Again”. Tinged with the melancholia of self-doubt, it’s another emotional number from the 23-year-old singer but don’t worry, this one won’t have you weeping at your desk. A harmonised, hollering chorus uplifts the track into feel-good territory and you’ll be calling out in unison before you know it.

After, quite frankly, a ridiculous breakout year, making an appearance on pretty much every “Best Of” playlist on the internet (all the ones worth paying attention to, anyway), receiving a nomination for the BRITS Critic Choice award and a spot on the BBC’s Sound of 2016 Poll, this summer will see Frances travelling the world to share her sound. Having already performed at Glastonbury, SxSW and Coachella this year, she’s basically a major fest veteran already. She shares her travelling tunes with us amidst her jet-set summer. It’s alright for some, right?

“Love And Hate” – Michael Kiwanuka

I bought his new album and I had a long flight so I could listen to it in full… It’s absolutely gorgeous. It just oozes soul. “Love And Hate” is just one of my favourites on there!

“Tilted” – Christine And The Queens

I love listening to this on trains or in the car. It’s quite hypnotic and I find it so relaxing. Yet at the same time it’s quirky and her voice is so unique. Love it!

“Tambourine” – Eve

This is a funny one. My friends and I are all super creative people and live busy lives, so when we see each other we have such a fun time catching up… And this is just one of the tunes that we’d dance around the kitchen to.

“Back Up Plan” – Mahalia

Mahalia opened for me on my first ever UK tour. I was mesmerised by her set. She’s just incredible and this song in particular is amazing!

“Good Grief” – Bastille

This song has made me so excited for their new album. I love listening to this just walking around London or another city I’m visiting. It’s so uplifting.

“The Valley” – Ardyn

Ardyn are a new duo that I know fairly well. I find their sound so compelling and having seen them live for the first few times at festivals throughout the summer, I think they’re going to do huge things!

“When We Were Young” – Adele

I was so excited for Adele’s new album and when I heard this song I knew it was an amazing album. It’s such a nostalgic and moving song.

“Hymn For The Weekend” – Coldplay

On any journey I will always listen to some Coldplay. They’ve soundtracked a lot of my life! This is one of my favourites from their latest album.

Frances’ new track “Say It Again” is out now.
