Astier de Villatte Colognes

Astier de Villatte have created a new cologne collection, and it is beautiful.

A cologne collection from a furniture and white ceramic designer might seem like an unusual area to branch out into, but not when the Astier de Villatte are involved. Founded in 1996 by Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte, the company is unique in that they are the only major studio to create artisanal ceramics using traditional production in Paris. This attention to focusing on the craft marks them apart, so it’s no surprise that their colognes are a cut above the rest. With fragrance notes ranging from patchouli and black pepper to orange neroli and ylang-ylang, there’s a perfect scent for everyone.

Looking towards the essence of the first colognes made in the Middle Ages, Astier de Villatte have carefully crafted each scent, using innovative and unusual ingredient combinations to create completely unique and irresistible colognes. From those fragrant notes we all know and love (like rose and lavender) to more uncommon elements, like benzoin, Astier de Villatte get it right with every scent. The scent Splash Orange Amère is a formed of Brazil bitter orange, Bergamot leaves, cedar wood, grapefruit, black pepper and oak moss notes, while the Grand Chalet scent consists of notes of sweet honey, milk, lemon, blond wood and vanilla. They pulled out all the stops for these fragrances.

Other scents include Elixir Du Dr Flair, which is full of elements of wild plants and medicinal herbs, such as lavender, clove, Brazil orange and Virginia cedar, while Eau Fugace is a cocktail of citrus, sweet orange, blackcurrant and tarragon, matching perfectly with patchouli and oak moss. Eau Chic is a beautiful floral scent, with hints of white flowers, ylang-ylang, crushed rose, lavender and orange blossom, while Eau De Cologne Astier de Villatte is fresh and energising, with lavender, benzoin, rosemary and orange neroli notes creating a dreamy fresh and summery scent.

Alongside all these fragrances, as if Astier de Villatte haven’t treated us enough already, is the Cologne 1871 Collaboration with Commune De Paris, a label created by Parisian creators in fashion and product design. For this signature cologne, Astier de Vilatte, together and perfumer Francoise Caron have brought together Sicily lemons, rosemary and bergamot notes, as well as breaking the rules and using two synthetic molecules – coumarin, that smells of cut grass, and benzalehide, giving off the scent of almonds. This cologne collection has multiple layers of notes and interesting scent mixes, making them both beautiful, and addictive (with gorgeous hand-blown bottles to boot); Astier de Villatte have made the colognes of our dreams.
