Willow Smith is the latest of Karl’s muses to get shady.
There’s something about the Smith kids. We suppose it’s to be expected when your Dad was know for nearly a decade as The Fresh Prince, but Will Smith’s children have proved irresistible to the Industry’s greatest designers. You’ll recall there was Jaden rocking skirts last season for Louis Vuitton, and now King Karl has roped in Willow Smith for his latest eyewear campaign for Chanel.
Reprising his frequent role behind the camera for this round of minimal, black and white images, Lagerfeld was drawn to Willow’s “youth and energy”, as well as her much publicised personal style and uncanny trend setting abilities. Smith joins Chanel’s ever expanding family of muses (other Karl faves include Kristen Stewart and Vanessa Paradis: not bad company, ‘ey?), but brings to the shots her unique charisma and, of course, a whole load of super coveted pieces from Chanel’s AW16 ready-to-wear. Some girls have all the luck, right?
