Folded Like Fabric is the result of Hastings duo Connor Sims and Jay Mooncie combining their mutual admiration for all things music and offering us an insight into their idiosyncratic world of sharply contemporary pop songs. Mooncie, on production, injects wavering, soothingly dynamic instrumental inclusions to Sims’ charmingly spiking tone, producing an overall ambience with joy and appeal. Previous releases have seen their fan base soar with debut EP “I Tried”, laced with soothing jazz inflections and melancholic vocal lines, gaining worldwide recognition.
The pair’s latest rhythmic delight comes in the form of the track “Falling And You Caught Me” taken from their soon to be released EP “Luxuries.” Sounds of glitchy guitars glide through the track with ease, fusing together a blend of indie and electronic elements and with each instrument’s incorporation being as strategic and impressive as the next. The twosome have declared that the mindful lyrics are about “being in a difficult situation in your life when it’s hard to know what to do”, making it difficult to open up and “admit you’re truly fucked” (we can totally relate guys). With the ability to find new enticing aspects on every listen, it’s no wonder their dreamy sound has got us patiently awaiting the drop of their next offering. We’re hooked.
