There’s quite a lot to say about Anohni. For starters, the transgender artist refused to attend the Oscars after her performance was “cut” from the lineup. She’s won the Mercury Prize. Now, the video for her new track, “Drone Bomb Me”, has been art directed by Riccardo Tisci, is starring Naomi Campbell and includes some custom made looks designed by the House of Givenchy. Not too shabby.
Naomi serves up sass acting as an avatar, lip synching every word with pouts in between but she starts to cry (Riccardo reportedly wanted a “raw” atmosphere, the song is about love and loss, after all). Set between a garage and a neon underpass, it ticks all the 90s underground boxes, plus there’s a troupe of double-jointed dancers, a must have for any 90s vibes. Our favourite moment in Naomi in her barely-there bodysuit, proving that while the newbies might come and go, she’s still the top model. We can only hope this new arts Holy Trinity come together to create again in the future.
