InterContinental Dublin: "Inside the Mind of Francis Bacon"

Head to the InterContinental Dublin to get your culture fix.

Ever wanted to get inside Francis Bacon’s head, the artist known for his grotesque, emotionally charged and raw imagery? Well, we might questions why. Still, if that’s up your street, then head to the luxury InterContinental Dublin Hotel in Ballsbridge for their latest partnership with the Dublin City Gallery: an inside experience of ‘Inside The Mind Of Francis Bacon’ or watch it all without leaving your lounge in the Insider Experience video launched by Art Curator Adam Waymouth. Guests are offered a private tour of the painter’s studio along with exclusive access to the archive to gain unique insight in to every aspect of Bacon’s bits. As one of the 20th centuries most intriguing and controversial figures, that’s nothing to be sniffed at, trust us.

Dedicated to those who enjoy the glamour and exhilaration of fascinating places and fresh perspectives, Waymouth reveals rare and unseen material acquired by Dr Barbara Dawson, Director of The Hugh Lane Gallery, who secured the donation of Bacon’s studio and commissioned a team to remove the studio, along with its entire contents from London to Dublin. Waymouth’s passion for art is clear throughout the film, where he unveils some of Bacon’s most iconic pieces and shares personal reflections on his life and work.

The experience begins with a champagne reception (need we say more) and a piano recital in InterContinental Dublin’s Pembroke Suites before being taken on an ‘after hours’ tour of the relocation project, all finished off with a contemporary meal from the hotel restaurant’s Irish menu. A trip to Dublin is in order we think.
