PFW: Louis Vuitton AW16

It was all leather everything for Louis Vuitton AW16.

Biker Grove

If it wasn’t for all the (brilliantly) tiny handbags and flowing silks, AW16 would have been decidedly masculine. Leather overcoats, patent pants and stomping great big biker boots ran throughout the show. With grill details on dresses and zips on just about everything, the hard as nails attitude seeped through the 50+ looks. Jumpsuits made a flash appearance, as tight as a race car driver’s and cropped leather jackets were adorned with racing stripes.

Let Me Be Your Fantasy

Despite the distinct lack of traditionally sexy shapes on show, details read closer as a subtle but cheeky nod to fetish. Leather boots laced up to the knee, matching gloves that were shoulder length and tightly belted waists – even the silken prints were of ropes and knots. SS16 was about being sexy and knowing it, rather than showing it.

All Creatures Great and Small

Our favourite accessories this season are either petite or augmented. From the furry trapper hat twice as tall and wide as the model wearing it’s head, to the folding unstructured monogram bag – big was certainly beautiful. For evening, we’re itching to get ourselves a tiny box bag, preferably in leopard, you know our address, Louis V.
