LFW: Sadie Williams AW16

Sadie Williams was off piste and on point for AW16.

Off Piste

Taking inspo from her parents’ skiing holiday photos, everything down to Sadie Williams’ set, complete with ski run flags, was perfectly on theme. From chevrons decorating jackets to thick knits and highland checks, high altitude was always on the brain. Even the glitter looks had an icy link. Sequinned to perfection and high-necked, Williams’ tops (and skirts and trousers) were figure-skating worthy.

Upside Down

Not sure what to do with your old wadded ski jacket? Sadie Williams turned hers into gliding A-line skirts. Textures were all important this season with leather trousers as a nod to Williams’ fathers, knife-edge pleats and there was lurex everywhere because, well, lurex. A criminally underused material, everything had the slightest glitter to it, for those too scared to brave a full-sequin look.

Marland Backus

Lending her artistic hand to assist with prop and accessory design, Marland Backus used silicone to create gloopy shapes that looked like melting snow. Backus got crafty adding bric-a-brac like safety-pins, glitter and matches to their cloudy form.
