Brooklyn brothers Shimon and Ariel Ovadia are dressing NY’s effortlessly cool.
While the Ovadia twins’ collection had an overall darkly soft feeling, look a little closer and amongst the greys, blacks and khaki, there’s an aggressive undertone. Masterfully blended into wearable streetwear, military vibes came overtly from the most obvious khaki camo prints and bomber jackets but the traditions surrounding both were undercut with bouclé and golden metallics. Lean in further, the cropped dusters in navy pinstripe and grey tied with ribbon match boxers’ robes too.
Ovadia AW16’s home lies somewhere between the opposites of the streets of NYC and the great outdoors. The streetwear main staple, the branded tee, made a sly and sneaky appearance but we’ll let Ovadia off, they’ve got to pay the bills somehow. The polarity of the collection is invisible until you inspect it. Parkas with gargantuan fur trims will ward off the New York winter blizzards and racoon tail clips added a pleasingly vintage twist.
