Despite being another artist with an all-caps name, STELLA is a unique new musician from San Francisco shaking up the whole RnB singer-songwriter thing. Having already caught attention for her excellent debut, ‘Friends’, STELLA, who happens to be the daughter of Carlos Santana (which explains her musical talent), has been forging an enigmatic sound that swims against the Pop tide by being just that little more inscrutable, that little more textured than what most other artists are doing. Now she’s dropping her newest single exclusively on Wonderland and we can’t get enough of it. ‘New Toy’ is a heartfelt piece of alt-Pop that puts STELLA’s defiant vocals over forward thinking production courtesy of Jared Evan. The lyrics are poetic, the beat layered and well wrought: could you ask for more?
