PREMIERE: STARWALKER – “EVERYBODY’S GOT THEIR OWN WAY”

We premiere the new track from off-beat super duo, Starwalker.

Jean Benoit Dunckel of critically acclaimed French electronic group Air (long time Sofia Coppola collaborators who composed the soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides), not to mention other side projects like Tomorrow’s World, has been working on a fresh collaboration with Icelandic multi-artist Barði Jóhannsson. The duo, called Starwalker, released a well loved EP (‘Losers Can Win’) back in 2014 that was a downtempo kitch-fest: in the best way possible.

Now, they’re set to release their debut self-titled album in April (on Prototyp Recording & Bang ehf), the first single from which is ‘Everybody’s Got Their Own Way’ – that we’re proud to premiere. It begins with a dash of Krafwerkian voice distortion, then dives into a sugarcoated melody before ending in wild synth play and power-ballad guitar riffing. The group said of the single, “This song is about tolerance. Everyone can achieve what he wants with his own solutions, his own manner.” Fair enough, the track is pretty much the kind of unconventional joy would expect two artists like Benoit Dunckel and Jóhannsson to produce, and has us more than a little bit excited to listen to the whole album.
