Z Hotels are spearheading a new movement in higher-end hotels that’s all about offering a more streamlined and more affordable experience. Luxury hotels often come with a list of features as thick as a Yellow Pages (R.I.P.), most of which are redundant or lie mostly unused – for the average city-break customer, at least. Think conference rooms, opulently priced spa treatments, libraries, helicopter pads and bone marrow transplant facilities…you get the picture. Well, Z Hotels trim some of this unnecessary fat and bring their prices down accordingly, which is perfect for the non-oligarchs among us (that’s everyone, then).
Don’t think this means a compromise in good taste and good design, though. All rooms are stylishly appointed in a contemporary fashion: frosted glass, bespoke furnishings and crisp high count sheets all selected to maximise space and comfort. Don’t imagine, either, that you’ll be compromising on location. This Z Hotel is right in the heart of Victoria, a stones throw away from the West End, shopping-town and, of course, transport links.
Though you won’t find room service here – if you’re name isn’t Kevin McCallister or Don Draper you shouldn’t be ordering room service anyway – there is a Z Cafe serving only freshly whipped up treats like a handsome breakfast buffet, a range of lunchables as well as coffee and smoothies. Oh, and if you fancy a glass of champagne post-theater, they can do that as well. Everything about the experience seems thought out, focusing always on the best value for a good price. Plus, it’s all aimed at young(ish) urbanites: sounds like you, no?
