PLAYLIST: GANZ

The Netherlands’ Jordy Saämena aka Ganz selects his favourite tracks to fill dance floors when he’s in charge.

Taking a look at Ganz’s favourite picks to play when DJing is like taking a trip through a hip hop and electronic music hall of fame, fair to say it’s all killer and no filler. The 24-year-old’s music taste is second to none and his eclectic taste is no surprise when you consider his education. The producer was fed hip hop, soul and garage before stepping up to a drum kit and discovering creating music for himself.

Eight years later and he’s studied electronic music at Haarlem’s Conservartory and gone on to rack up hundreds of thousands of plays on Soundcloud for his trap flip of Hermitude and Flume’s track, “Hyperparadise”, in his own words, it’s “one of the few remixes which made the beginning of me touring around the globe and made the difference for me even though it was made as a joke,” pretty good joke if you ask us.

Snoop Doggy Dogg – “Who Am I (What’s My Name?)”

A track from my childhood and everybody will get on the same level when i play this one out.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard – “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”

The same story as the “Who Am I” track. I listened to Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Doggy Dogg a lot when I was a small kid, copying all those tracks on cassette tapes.

Janet Jackson & Q-Tip – “Got Till It’s Gone”

Drake – “Trophies (Mr. Carmack Remix)”

Mura Masa – “Lotus Eater”

A.G. Cook – “Beautiful (Rustie Edit)”

Hermitude x Flume – “Hyperparadise (GANZ Flip)”

One of the few remixes which made the beginning of me touring around the globe and made the difference for me even though it was made as a joke and never expected to blow up that hard.

GANZ – “Pvrple Forest”

This was the anthem of my PURPLE CWTCH EP and a track I always play out during shows because of the feelings.

Mr. Carmack – “Happy Birthday Lakim This One’s for You”

Defenitely one of the hardest tracks I’ve heard in a while and gonna stick in my sets for a long long time.

Hudson Mohawke – “Scud Books”

I waited to long for this track to release so I was more then happy when I saw it was gonna be on his latest album. A track which so much feelings and vibes in one.

Ganz plays as part of The Dutch Impact at Cologne’s C/O POP festival on August 21st
