As LC:M looms just around the corner, we have a 60 second catch up with Shaun Samson and talk about getting groovy in Cali.
What has inspired you for AW15?
I infuse a lot of autobiographical references to the collections I produce. This season, moving back to Los Angeles after 10 years in the UK, I was able to see California with a more mature eye. There are so many things that I appreciate living in Southern California now that I’m older, and the collection this season is a reflection of that.
Are there any particular artists/design archives/cities/places that you have referenced in particular this season?
I was looking at California Modern Architecture (Julius Shulman Stahl house pictured), case study houses, and the work of Charles Eames, Richard Neutra, and John Lautner
What has been the soundtrack for this collection?
Anything groovy – the show music is definitely an extension of the collection, and I don’t want to reveal anything until the show!
What sort of details can we expect?
Accessories play an important role this season, and a lot of subversion with the styling
