FARAH × GAVIN WATSON

FARAH x Gavin Watson brings the rave to our wardrobes with a digital print collection taken from the photographer’s back catalogue

FARAH has always dealt in innovation. When its hopsack canvas slacks arrived in ’70s Britain, they were unlike anything available at the time. Mods, Skins and every scene in between wore them with pride, and not just because of the stain-resistant technology. You just can’t argue with a slim cut and sharp tailoring, even if you’re not the type to get food down your trousers.

For AW14, FARAH has collaborated with renowned documentary photographer Gavin Watson to produce a digital print collection consisting of a bomber, shirt and t-shirt. The print itself is the combination of two images from Watson’s back catalogue of work. Both taken in a rave club, they feature Watson’s friends and family – the print is as personal as the work it’s derived from.

Born in London in 1965, Watson started taking photos from an early age and was a Skinhead by the time he was 14. Despite now being a hugely successful photographer, his photos still tingle with the same energy they did when he was documenting the antics of his peers.

If you thought it was going to be hard to put this into print, you’d be wrong: FARAH x Gavin Watson takes the best of his work and presents them in ways never seen before.
