PREMIERE: AUDIO MONSTERS – “TROUBLE”

We take a debut look at the London driven video for Audio Monster’s latest track ‘Trouble’, a gritty garage offering that’s simmering with undulating rhythm and soul

Taking us on a journey around urban London with the video for their latest track ‘Trouble’, K1, Shabz and DJ Daniel “Steppa’, best known as Audio Monsters, present us with an infectious offering of gritty garage that’s simmering with soul.

Having formed a relationship in early 2008, Shabz and k1 started a duo production tag, having both been individually producing UK Garage from the comfort of their bedrooms since 2000. “At the time we met we both hit it off due to our mutual passion for UKG,” says K1. “We didn’t go straight into producing UKG because the music business had gone into more ballads and mid tempo music.” But having felt the slow but sure rumble of UKG making it’s way back to popularity last year, with the younger generation sparking a revival of the likes of So Solid Crew, MC Luck and DJ Neat, they propelled their passion forward into the revival. “We started creating the tracks but wanted to focus on the new generation of talent, still implementing the traditional excitement of discovering music. We wanted to stay behind a logo and still do,” says Shabz. “We want to make this about the music, the scene and great vibes with the ‘Audio Monsters’ as the fans”.

Reaching out to the duo on Soundcloud, DJ Steppa shared their heartfelt passion for the UKG scene. “I heard what Dan what was doing on his Soundcloud and fell in love with his mixes,” says Shabz. “We soon realised we wanted a DJ on board and who better than Dan.” Together the trio have found a strong following with their revival of the all to familiar sounds we hear in ‘Trouble’ – the raspy vocals, infectious rolling beats and the undulating melody. Thrown together with a journey round London, including a trip to the record store and a visit to the market whilst wearing a delectable dosage of vintage Moschino, a staple for the genre, we get a real feel for the brains behind this track with the video premiered here today.
