Summer Sessions return to one of London’s most spectacular settings Somerset House with a stellar line up of live music for 2014
In one of London’s most spectacular settings, Summer Series at Somerset House with American Express® is set to run for the fifth time this July with a line-up which is potentially their best yet. Offering intimate live music events, Summer Sessions are commended year upon year for both their selection of headliners and their support in bringing emerging artists to the forefront of London’s music scene.
This years foray includes performances from Chloe Howl, Paloma Faith, Jessie wear and Chet Faker amongst a string of others. But for us, we’re looking forward to Kelis, opened by Jess Glynne the most. Set to take the UK by storm this year, with her new single ‘Right Here’ to be released in July, she’s already got two number ones under her belt for her collaborations with deep-house artist Route 94 and fellow Summer Series act Clean Bandit. Supporting Clean Bandit, we see Canadian singer-songwriter, Kiesza, who having written for Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Icona Pop, propelled herself to chart topping artist in her own right with her number one single ‘Hideaway’ this year. Also on the bill, is 19 year-old Grammy nominated producer MNEK, who joins Sam Smith. Praised for production credits on tracks from the likes of Duke Dumont, Rudimental and Gorgon City, he is the perfect addition to the line-up this year, proving that the standard across the board is impeccably high.
New for 2014, Unplugged Summer Series will also feature free lunchtime acoustic sets by emerging new talent from 17th – 19th July. From a pop-up stage in the beautiful surroundings of the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, three artists will perform each day between 1 – 2pm as people enjoy their lunch and bask in the sun. It will also be a chance to experience music in the courtyard ahead of the evening’s main event, Summer Series at Somerset House, and quite possibly listen to the resonances of a future star.
Summer Series at Somerst House runs from 10th-20th July 2014, full details can be found at somersethouse.org.uk.
