Wonderland premiers the video for French Duo, Erotic Market’s dark hip-hop driven track ‘I Want to be Some Booty’

Following the success of their most distinctive track French duo, Erotic Market have released a video to accompany – ‘I Want to be Some Booty’, ahead of the release of their ‘Blahblahrians’ album this June.

Consisting of two musicians Marine Pellegrini and Lucas Garnier, Erotic Market draw elements from a diverse range of genres – soul, hip-hop, grime and electronic – to name a few. By reimagining each of these genres in their own unique way, the sound they produce creates the odd elusive feeling of remembering a track, without quite knowing it at all.

It’s no surprise that they’ve sparked comparisons to the likes of M.I.A., Grimes, The Knife and Erykah Badu and whilst Marine cites soulful hip-hop as inspiration, Lucas prefers noise rock – making the task of defining their fully immersive genre pretty damn hard.

The video which accompanies their stripped out synth sounds and dark echoing hip-hop beats illustrates Marine’s journey through the night, drawing us to a surreal scape, employing an eye-brow raising take on modern feminism. Taken from their forthcoming album Blahblahrians, this is just one example of Erotic Market’s ability to defy-genre classification, carving themselves a path away from the crowd.
