Luxe streetwear designer Astrid Andersen and high street giant Topman have collaborated on an exclusive capsule collection, launching this month
Emerging from a three-year relationship with Topman’s MAN and NEWGEN schemes, the undisputed Queen of luxe streetwear Astrid Andersen has teamed up with the high street brand to create an exclusive capsule collection. Modeled by hip hop artist A$AP Ferg, the collection brings Andersen’s unique take on streetwear to a broader market and at a more affordable price point.
Andersen’s signature oversized silhouette and more ‘feminine’ elements are evident in the striking colour palette of black, white and cerise, whilst her playful take on fabrication comes through in neoprene bomber jackets, mesh panelling and a crushed velvet tracksuit.
Talking of the collection, Astrid reveals: “The inspiration for the design was a website I found on Punjab basket teams from India. There were images from the early fifties right up to today so the inspiration became the crossover references on how this was originally a national sport but as time progressed it became highly Americanised. The colour code and metal reflect the traditional Indian use of colours but in a tight palette.”
With prices starting from £50, it won’t stick around in stores for long. Head to Topman’s Oxford Circus and Selfridges stores on 12th June, before it’s too late.
