PREMIERE: LORINE CHIA – “MIGHT COME AROUND”

The spirit of summer, in one glitchy R&B track.

Lorine Chia 'Might Come Around'

Hip-hop songstresses are on a roll at the minute – something about the way ladies like Rainy Milo straddle the world of soul and rap has got us shaking our hips and nodding our heads, especially in summer. So enter Cameroon-born, Cleveland-raised singer Lorine Chia, who specialises in the kind of lazy, lushly glitchy R&B that’s drawn comparisons to James Blake and Amy Winehouse. Listen to her new single, ‘Might Come Around’ here.

It’s a sultry, potent mix of trap and soul, with a leftfield injection of dub for good measure. It’s the kind of thing that wouldn’t be out of place blaring out of a sound system on the hottest day of Notting Hill Carnival. And when it comes delivered with Chia’s distinctively youthful, raspy vocals, it’s got us feeling like it’s a little more like summer every day.
