Glitz and glam

The show opened with metallic, holographic fabrics dominating. The iridescent, silver trouser suit was a real shower-stopper, though not for the fainthearted. The opening pieces were deceiving: the collection was in general more ready-to-wear than the glittery suits suggested. Evening wear came in the form of black lace (a suit worn open with a simple black triangle bra underneath) or brocade with glitter threads running through it (a flared tea dress with an uber mini skirt and cut outs at the waist). The black, bias cut organza two piece with pink detailing on the bust and hem was the best part of the evening wear. The black sheer shirts and gothic maxi dress in silk chiffon did not fit with the fun theme of the collection, but the fluidity and drape of the fabric was striking all the same.

Flamenco flamingo

The girls’ new ‘Florida Flamingo’ print featured lightly in the show: keeping the print for appropriate pieces and not overdoing it. These pieces came in the form of chiffon dresses with fluid skirts – the most striking had with a slit skirt, almost flamenco style. The blue background of the pink flamingos made for a pretty and elegant print, just dodging kitsch.

White hot

The twins used white abundantly and to great effect for a Spring/Summer collection. Sporty styles kept it modern: white wide legged jumpsuits with cut outs at the waist, white cardigans were kept young worn open with white triangle bras, white maxi dresses had racer straps. The real scorcher though, was the colourblocking of white set against an unexpected pairing of pink and coral-orange in a jersey cropped tee paired with the high waist, wide legged trousers and midi skirt.

Ahead of the much anticipated London Fashion Week show for London based brand Felder Felder, German sisters Daniela and Annette Felder, reveal their hero ‘Florida Flamingo’ print for SS16 in style; by printing it on a fleet of electric BMW i3 cars. The print is fresh, tropical and exotic, inspired by the wildlife that the designers have seen in Miami : “As we spend a lot of time in Miami, we are naturally influenced by the way of life there. Miami has one of the biggest flocks of wild flamingos in the world. We wanted to bring some Miami sunshine to rainy London!”

 The print is being debuted not only with style, but with a thought-provoking bang. The ‘Florida Flamingo’ design, will be printed onto a fleet of electric BMW i cars! The i3 with BMW eDrive, is an exciting, agile driving experience with breath-taking acceleration, that’s emission free and almost silent in motion.  The car is without a doubt the most award winning electric vehicle in the market, having been deemed Green Car of the Year 2015, UK Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and so much more.

 As BMW i are the pioneers of eco-conscious vehicle, the Felder twins (who usually travel around on bicycles) decided to collaborate with the company.  The relocation of the London Fashion week hub to the Brewer street carpark in Soho, means that shows will be taking place all over the city. The Felder Felder twins will use their fashionable fleet of cars to take their ‘FROW’ from party to show and to navigate around the sites quickly- but without leaving so much as a carbon foot print.

   “We are excited about the venue change, it keep things fresh and these cool electric cars can navigate around central London with ease. We’re so pleased we are able to connect VIPs to our show in an eco-friendly and stylish way. They will be able to enjoy a moment of peace in the craziness that is Fashion Week.”

 The show is set to wow with vivid colours, quirky romantic summer prints and sexy shapes – perfect for channeling those Florida vibes!
