These days he\u2019s calmer and cooler, and can count Reese Witherspoon and Chloe\u0308 Sevigny amongst his co-stars.<\/p>\n<p>Next year, he\u2019ll reunite with <em>MUD<\/em> protagonist Matthew McConaughey for Free State of Jones. All grown up (well, nearly), Lofland tackles\u00a0race, slavery and violence in his role in the Mississippi Civil War epic. Or at least that\u2019s what we\u2019ve managed to deduce: locked in Hollywood contracts, Lofland\u2019s pretty hush-hush on the subject. \u201cThe film takes place in Jones County in southeastern Mississippi during the Civil War and is based on a true story about Newton Knight, \u201ca farmer who rallied against the Confederate Army.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>This year, catch the Briggsville, Arkansas native in second <em>Maze Runner<\/em> movie, <em>The Scorch Trails<\/em> &#8211; a high-octane dystopian tale based on\u00a0a pentalogy of novels by James Dashner. Pretty fly for an unlikely screen star. \u201cI never thought that being an actor was a possibility for me,\u201d he admits.
