Really tall. Which is probably why he\u2019s been making his own clothes since he was 15. Well, that and the fact that \u201cit\u2019s really cheap\u201d. But if you were to assume that Bovan\u00a0\u2013 who just won the super-prestigious LVMH graduate prize \u2013 must have graduated onto luxurious, expensive fabrics by now, you\u2019d be wrong. \u201cI love cheap fabric,\u201d he enthuses, \u201cit\u2019s less precious, so you can have more\u00a0fun with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Standing out for his unconventional, gender fluid, textile-heavy approach to fashion, Bovan\u2019s been honing his bright, tactile aesthetic\u00a0since his teens. Over the next ten years, he\u2019s determined to grow his \u201cidentity and personal boundaries of design and taste\u201d as much as possible. \u201cI want to be able to look back and see a lot of self-development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always wanted my work to have layers to it in the way that a painting can,\u201d he adds. Then he flounces off, rustling with painted ornaments, knotted lurex, glitter, gold gaffa tape and gemstones all dangling off glimmering, stretchy fabric.
