South London’s Sin For Calais are six young musicians with heavily-embellished, gold ringed fingers in a lot of creative pies. “We’re not specifically all musicians, but we do influence each other’s work,” Corinthian Sin – who makes the clan’s clothes alongside Yems Calais – explains.

With stage names and even job titles in their microcosmical empire, the clan revolve around lead rapper Lash Vanegro, and producers Casvanasche and Tokyo. They’re carving out a fresh new sound, where R&B meets trap and dancehall. Music that’s “by the youth, for the youth,” Tokyo says. “I put grime bars over the Calais beats and it works,” adds Lash Vanegro. “It’s a genre within itself.”

Even at their first show in Brixton earlier this year, the troupe commanded attention. “We walked on stage squadded,” recalls Jay Calais. “Everyone made a little walkway for us.”
