Of course this isn&#8217;t your standard navy city-job type three piece, it is SIBLING after all. Think slim cut trousers and boxy blazers fit for the original Mod era, that Edward Sexton remembers first hand.<\/p>\n<p>The desire to move into suits? Apparently a longstanding one, stemming from Cozette&#8217;s own happy memories of watching Tommy Nutter fit her father for his own. We spoke to the designer about the SS16 show., her pin-ups and soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-14-at-23.06.28.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51712\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-06-14 at 23.06.28\" src=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-14-at-23.06.28.jpg\" srcset=\"\/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-14-at-23.06.28.jpg 988w, \/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-14-at-23.06.28-768x1166.jpg 768w, \/\/media.wonderlandmagazine.com\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-14-at-23.06.28-790x1200.jpg 790w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 988px) 100vw, 988px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p ><em>SIBLING SS16<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RISxFqpba68\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>What made you move into tailoring this season?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve actually been discussing it for sometime and did have one style of trouser for AW14 made in black bonded\u00a0jersey.\u00a0They were\u00a0pretty low-key because we were testing the water to see whether there would be any\u00a0interest from stores.\u00a0There has been talk of a SIBLING suit since then but we waited until we found the ideal partner, the\u00a0relationship had to be right, they had to respect our brand and us theirs. Anyway, we were chatting with Woolmark about ideas in general around Cool Wool and themes for SS16 which hinge on sportsmen and Mods and we\u00a0threw this suit idea at them and they ran, I mean really ran with it. We had a meeting with Edward Sexton within days and it was like love at first sight for us: BOOM and a suit was born. Edward was a Mod so he totally\u00a0\u2018got\u2019 our references but also wanted the suit to be a combination of his tailoring and our signatures. He\u2019s worked with Stella and Phoebe at Chloe so\u00a0understands collaborations well. So the suit has good Sexton shoulders, Mod fit (bum freezer jacket, ankle biter trousers) and SIBLING details such as knit laces, Swirl print lining and inside knit trims.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wh<\/b><b>a<\/b><b>t has been soundtracking your time in the studio this season?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Today the radio is\u00a0winding me up as we have Absolute on and everyone is mumbling along to the songs while I\u2019m trying to answer way way way too many emails. You\u2019d be surprised how many interns know the words to 90s music and if they don\u2019t Sid sure does. Joe is rolling his eyes. I\u2019m actually laughing that I wrote this! What a misery. Oh God, &#8220;Shiny Happy People&#8221; has come on. It may kill me. Joe has suggested we go on a coffee run\u00a0\u2018or just run\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iCQ0vDAbF7s\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Are t<\/b><b>h<\/b><b>ere any particular artists that you have referenced this season?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Swirl print idea originated from 2 places: Ukiyo-e woodblock print making and the backgrounds of artist Kehinde Whiley\u2019s portraits. Do you know his work? It\u2019s all over Empire now I\u2019ve noticed.<\/p>\n<p><b>What wer<\/b><b>e<\/b><b>\u00a0your main inspirations for SS16?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Mods, sportsmen\u00a0notably American football and baseball players from the 1920s, sport details such as lacing, stripes and tight\u00a0forms, shoulder guards, double denims,\u00a0hooded fishtail parkas &#8211; those ones with the really ratty fake fur trims especially, loafers and socks, ankles, Elton John singing Saturday Night\u2019s (Alright For Fighting) in the 70s, Kehinde\u2019s sports stars in\u00a0classical poses.<\/p>\n<p><b>What sort o<\/b><b>f<\/b><b>\u00a0details are in the collection?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Orange, yellow and\u00a0turquoise webbing and grosgrain\u00a0trims, knitted trainer-laces not in trainers, knitted raffia, colour, sparkle.\u00a0The usual SIBLING stuff.<\/p>\n<p><b>Who is the ult<\/b><b>i<\/b><b>mate pin-up guy for SS16?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Phil Daniels in Quadrophenia having a pint with Johnny Depp in Nightmare On Elm Street, sitting on Johnny\u2019s bed just as he gets eaten alive by it. I\u2019m being specific because it\u2019s Mr Depp\u2019s outfit at THAT point.<\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s your favou<\/b><b>r<\/b><b>ite piece from the collection?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Sexton SIBLING Mod Jock suit in navy William Healstead tonic. I\u2019m hoping that I\u2019m the same size as Rob Knighton as it\u2019s made to measure.
